Andalucia and Costa del Sol
Day 1 ARRIVAL TO MALAGA
Arrival to Malaga Airport by scheduled flight. After entry formalities you will depart to Malaga. Upon arrival you will start panoramic tour of the birth city of Pablo Picasso. Malaga is the major coastal city of Andalucia and is a genuine and typical Andaluz city with illustrious past which has left its imprint on the historic centre, particularly around La Alcazaba (entrance not included), a fortress which dates back to 1065 and is now a fascinating archaeological museum. You will be able to visit nearby castle (entrance not included) which was rebuilt by the Moors and is today a traditional parador (state hotel) with superb panoramic views. Pablo Picasso is the city´s famous son and there are several galleries showing his work, including the 16th century Museum of Fine Arts, adjacent to the Cathedral. His birthplace in Plaza Merced is today an archive of his life and works and open to the public. Check in to hotel. Dinner in hotel and overnight.
Day 2 FD EXCURSION TO SEVILLA
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast depart to Sevilla. Upon arrival you will start a half day sight seeing tour of Seville. You will be able to visit The Cathedral of Santa María (entrance not included), the largest Gothic cathedral and the fourth largest Christian church in the world. The tour will continue to Royal Alcazar (entrance not included), Arabic palace from the 14th century and nowadays residence of the Spanish Kings. The tour will end with a nice walk through the historical part. After visit free time for personal activities and lunch on own. In the afternoon return to Malaga. Dinner in hotel and overnight.
Day 3 FD EXCURSION TO GRANADA
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast depart to Granada. Upon arrival you will start a half day sight seeing tour of Granada. You will be able to enjoy a visit of Alhambra fortress and the magnificent gardens of the Generalife (entrance not included), the former rural residence of the emirs who ruled this part of Spain in the 13th and 14th centuries. After this you will enjoy a walking tour through the old part of the city and see also the Royal Chapel, where King Ferdinand and Queen Elisabeth are buried. After visit free time for personal activities and lunch on own. In the afternoon return to Malaga. Dinner in hotel and overnight.
Day 4 FD EXCURSION TO CORDOBA
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast depart to Cordoba. Upon arrival you will start a half day sight seeing tour of Cordoba. You will be able to visit Mezquita de Cordoba (entrance not included), a Roman Catholic Cathedral and former Mosque. Under the rule of Islam, it was built as the second-largest mosque in the world, and is perhaps the most accomplished monument of the Unmayyad dynasty of Cordoba. After the Spanish Reconquista it was transformed into a church, and some of the Islamic columns and arches were replaced by a basilica in early Baroque style. After visit you will be able to walk through the streets of barrio de la Judería, known for its interesting interior patios. After visit free time for personal activities and lunch on own. In the afternoon return to Malaga. Dinner in hotel and overnight.
Day 5 FD EXCURSION TO RONDA
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast depart to Ronda. Upon arrival you will start a half day sight seeing tour of Ronda. Ronda is one of Andalucia´s loveliest towns, steeped in history. It stands on a towering plateau in the mountains of Malaga Province, and is famous through Spain for the plunging river gorge which divides the medieval from the 18th century parts of the town. This gorge is known as El Tajo - The Cliff and is spanned by a stone bridge, which once housed a prison. You will be able to peer down into the gorge, to see the waters of the River Guadalevín. After visit free time for personal activities and lunch on own. In the afternoon return to Malaga. Dinner in hotel and overnight.
Day 6 HD EXCURSION TO MIJAS
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast depart to Mijas. Upon arrival you will start a half day sight seeing tour of Mijas. It is a typical whitewashed village of the Costa del Sol nestled high in the mountains, with quaint plazas and little shops. The houses are clustered along narrow twisting streets overflowing with flowers. View of the Sierra to the Mediterranean is breathtaking. After visit, return to Malaga.
Upon arrival free time for lunch on own, personal activities and shopping.
Dinner in hotel and overnight.
Day 7 EXCURSION COSTA DEL SOL – GIBRALTAR – APT MALAGA
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast depart to Gibraltar. Upon arrival optional excursion by minibuses (ticket not included) from the frontier with Spain towards the southernmost point of Gibraltar, Europe Point and the sight of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Great Britain. En route you will pass by Catalan Bay, formally a quaint little fishing village, until you will arrive Europe Point. From this view point the African continent is often visible. The tour then proceeds to the Upper Rock area and to St. Michael's Cave and after this the Rock Apes (monkey reservation) After this the tour continues via the Upper Rock area to exit the Nature Reserve passing by the Moorish Castle and the tower of Homage that still bears the scars of Battle. At the end you will be able to see the Main Street in upper Town area. Return to Malaga Airport.
